Daphney

Daphney Rene Washington, WHNP-BC was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. She obtained her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing form San Jose State University and after working as an inpatient registered nurse  for over  ten years she decided to pursue a Master’s of Science from the University of California, San Francisco. One of the motivating  factors in her educational pursuits was the desire to help people feel empowered and connected by having access to providers they can relate to. 

 

At Matters of the Heart Counseling Centers, Daphney’s practice is motivated by the idea that we as providers are also partners in our patients care. She believes that tools such as music and dance are essential for health across the lifespan. She also is passionate about improving mental health  outcomes and strongly believes that diversity in health care providers is key. Daphney brings over twenty years of experience in nursing and a continued commitment to learning to our practice. Her upcoming educational goals will include an advanced practice certification in mental health and doctorate in nursing practice (DNP).

 

Daphney’s interest outside of being a nurse practitioner and registered nurse  include African and Brazilian dance, exercising, reading and learning Spanish and Portuguese. She is a wife, mother of two adult males and two dogs.
